City beat Chelsea

A few years ago I shook my head when I heard Chelsea were allowing Kevin De Bruyne to leave Stamford Bridge as they sold him for just £18 million. Not that I knew too much about him or that I’d seen him play that much, well who had at Chelsea football club? He joined them aged 21 and went straight out on loan for the season, he came back but in his second season I’m not even sure if he played more than a dozen games for them? There is no way he was given a proper chance and that is why I wasn’t impressed.

SATURDAY 30th SEPTEMBER 2017 – PREMIER LEAGUE
CHELSEA 0 vs MANCHESTER CITY 1
HT 0-0
FT 0-1
De Bruyne (67′ minutes)

Thankfully Chelsea’s silly decision to sell Kevin De Bruyne, was a blessing to us when he joined us back in 2015. He had a relatively quiet first season last season and so far this season he has been truly outstanding. The amount of chances he creates for others is exceptional but tonight it was all about his finishing. Nicolas Otamendi started with the ball, he found De Bruyne himself, he passed it off to Jesus and then got it back once again, he then smashed a left-footed shot past Courtois.

Sergio Agüero’s crashed taxi in Amsterdam

De Bruyne was our match-winner and he deserved all the plaudits at the end but the whole team was outstanding. The intensity and pressure of each individual was absolutely brilliant to watch and although we’ve had some emphatic win over the years, since 1-0 win was up there with the best of them. Even more so with us having Sergio Aguero missing after being injured in a car crash.

As for Chelsea, they never looked set from the off, you had Eden Hazard making his first league start of the season. They then lost top goalscorer Alvaro Morata to a hamstring injury just after the half-hour mark, he was replaced by Willian. Pedro eventually replaced Hazard too but overall they were poor. Or was it just that we Manchester City were superb. Definitely the latter for me. Roll on October!!
