Manchester City have finally received the all important green light from UEFA which should now finally lead to the club kicking off a massive spending spree over the course of the summer. If you’re not aware of what I’m talking about then the following sentence is for you. European football’s governing body, UEFA has decided to lift the spending restrictions that they had imposed on the side owned by one of the richest men in the world. UEFA imposed a transfer budget cap of 49 million pounds on City before the transfer window opened last summer. This meant that our club could not take the transfer market by the scruff of the neck and splash the cash to buy whoever we wanted.
City were reprimanded by UEFA for not meeting Financial Fair Play regulations and the club were required to commit to certain changes for the last season. These changes included not spending more than 49 million pounds on transfers throughout the whole season, ensuring that their wage bill did not rise and finally making sure that they did not incur a loss of more than 16 million pounds. Manuel Pellegrini’s side successfully met these goals which in turn led to UEFA lifting the spending cap that was imposed on the club. And I’m sure I do not have to tell my fellow Citizens what exactly that is supposed to mean for us.

The English club can also afford to sign Wolfsburg’s De Bruyne after UEFA removed their transfer cap
If you are not thinking what I’m thinking, then let me point you in the right direction. Think Raheem Sterling, Paul Pogba and Kevin De Bruyne. Had the transfer cap still been in place, then our beloved City would have only been able to sign one of these players before they reached their limit. Now though, all roads point to Eastlands as our most generous owner is on the verge of bankrolling moves for three of the hottest stars in the world of football and like the best things in life, they won’t come cheap. At least 150 million pounds will be needed in total to get Liverpool, Juventus and Wolfsburg to sell their biggest gems.

Manuel Pellegrini and our owner, Khaldoon Al Mubarak will be hoping that they can make this transfer window a memorable one
A deal for Sterling looked to be close but Liverpool are, as usual, playing hardball and sticking to their demand of 50 million pounds. The fact that City can afford that fee does in no way that they will. Our club will not be held to ransom and if there is no cooperation from the Reds then the Sterling deal may just be a dead end. Paul Pogba and Kevin De Bruyne on the other hand not only look to be the much more appealing options, but the most probable ones.
Media speculation has suggested that City are in pole position to sign Pogba from Juve while VfL Wolfsburg are believed to have received informal contact from us regarding the potential transfer of their top dog, De Bruyne. All in all, things finally look to be heating up at the Etihad and this news that our transfer cap has been lifted should surely kickoff some serious action as Pellegrini gets ready to unleash his boys on another season and another opportunity to make history.
