One step further in the Champions League?

I reckon so, as I honestly believe we’ll reach the final this year, put your money on it! Whether we’ll win it once there though is a different matter, that will all depend on who reaches the final to play us at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. We went very close last year but were well beaten in the end of course. This time around with Pep in charge with his knowledge I think we can get a step closer.

City to win the Champions League is 12/1 at Sky Bet
(same price as Juventus and Atletico Madrid)

Anyway, it came as no surprise we came up against Barcelona again and a return for Pep. I was watching the draw live and when (I think) Sevilla got pulled out with two only two balls to go, us being one of them, you knew Sevilla couldn’t play Barca so it was down to us.

Time for us to play Barcelona once again

With regards the other two teams, I’m certainly looking forward to our away day trips to both Scotland and of course first to Germany. We may slip up with a draw to one of these teams away from home but with the usual home ties as well, the leading bookies all agree that we should not have any issues in getting through to the next round.

We’ll have to see though, yes we’re Man City and yes we’ve produced major boo boos in the past, but we’re a different outfit now with a top top man in charge. Plus we’re missing a couple of influential players down the spine of our team so far this year and we’re still looking very very good and not really missing them.

First up though, bring on derby day a week on Saturday after the International break. Then that’s when the Champions League nights for our Man City players, staff and fans begins once again. Below are the fixture dates with exact kick off times to be confirmed, but as usual I’m guessing they’ll all be 7.45pm Manchester time.

Match Day 1 – At Home vs Borussia Monchengladbach Tuesday 13th September

Match Day 2 – Away vs Celtic Wednesday 28th September

Match Day 3 – Away vs Barcelona Wednesday 19th October

Match Day 4 – At home vs Barcelona Tuesday 1st November

Match Day 5 – Away vs Borussia Monchengladbach Wednesday 23rd November

Match Day 6 – At home vs Celtic Tuesday 6th December

  1. This wouldn’t in anyway be a work in the pack to the both teams (Manchester City vs Barcelona). Pep who originally was the Engineer for the successful Barcelona then is now in Manchester City,, and Pep will never want to lose to Barcelona for any reason just to prove his expertise in coaching. Am still watching as the event unfolds.

    • Be great if he can but going to their place this time around with the strikeforce they have could be one step to far. Either way, we can’t wait for either of the games to take place. Bring ’em on!
