Manchester City find themselves mired in the middle of a transfer tussle that does not look like it’s going to end any time soon. Manuel Pellegrini has set his sights on bolstering his team’s midfield, and the targets that he has laid eyes on include Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, but the one player who is grabbing all the headlines right now is of course Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling. The England winger is still the talk of the town even though his transfer from Merseyside to Manchester is nowhere close.

But that does not mean that there have been no developments regarding the matter. While no clear progress is yet to be identified, the latest news on this case makes for very interesting reading, especially if you are a Citizen like I am.

Sterling has declared that he has not interest of joining his Liverpool teammates on their pre-season tour of the Far East and Australia, which may be a reason why he is excluded from the promo image of their club's tour

Reports from the United Kingdom have strongly suggested that the Liverpool attacker has put his foot down on his club’s increasingly adamant behaviour with regards to his transfer out of the club. The Reds are playing hardball with City about the Sterling deal as they still do not want to sell their most prized asset. Two big money bids with the first at 25 million and the second at 35 million pounds have been rejected by Brendan Rodgers and the Liverpool management.Interestingly enough, just when it seemed as if the Anfield based side were going to keep their star man at the club despite his wishes to be elsewhere, news broke that Raheem Sterling had refused to join his Liverpool teammates on their club’s pre-season tour of the Far East and Australia.

Now it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out what exactly that means for us. As far as I see it, the England winger will be a Manchester City player before the transfer window slams shut. The news that Sterling has refused to travel with the Liverpool squad for their pre-season tour will not go down well at all with the Anfield bigwigs. This step taken by Sterling ensures that there is absolutely no way for the player to stay on at his current club any further simply because he is not cooperating with his employers any more.

Hence it should be enough for his current employers to realize that there is nothing they can do to keep the young prodigy at Anfield for any longer. That folks, is not where it ends, for you see, Sterling has truly turned up the heat on Liverpool by calling in “sick” on Wednesday and Thursday. He therefore missed two days of training and while there is a fair chance that the poor lad may indeed have caught a bug, but what it seems like to us is that this is just another attempt to force through a move to the Etihad.

All of this does make for brilliant reading as I feel that Liverpool will have no other option than to accept a bid of around 40 million pounds sometime soon as it is quite evident that there is no way back for Raheem to resume playing for the Reds.
